“Don’t give up on me, I’m not the lost cause that I used to be.” — Lost Cause
When a city is heralded for its most popular bands’ musical styling it sends a shockwave through the surrounding band’s hearts, they’re left with the dread that they must fit in or face perishing... sometimes. The current glow-pop movement rife with neon bleeding tweens sporting headbands has led some to find happiness, but for Denver’s darlings, Ashtree, it has done something different. For the band of four, it has propelled a need inside of them to get out of Denver, and get out fast.
Led by the sound of singer Will Johnston’s booming piano keys and willowy voice, melded with Pat Tafoya’s swirling guitars, and backed by the metronomic Zack Low on bass and Joe Tafoya on drums, Ashtree refreshes a beloved genre in a welcome and needed way.
