NEWS
What an amazing month. Like, really. This month we created two amazing things... er, manufactured them rather. First, the long awaited vinyl debut of Recover's seminal EP, CECI N'EST PAS RECOVER and then, our first book release, A MILLION MILES. Both of these wondrous creatures will be in your hands by the month's end. So good. 2015 is right around the corner, let's get weird.
A Million Miles is a novel written by Amy Fleisher Madden. It is a no-holds-barred coming of age story told with the burgeoning indie/emo music scene of the late ‘90s set as the backdrop. Get in the van and drive around America with Maddy Traeger and her favorite band, Crimson + Clover. This is not a story of arenas with flashing lights and luxurious tour buses; it’s one of dank dive bars and all night drives in a hot-boxed sardine can. This story takes place in a scene that has been chronicled, but never truly exposed. You’ll experience through Maddy’s eyes what it’s really like to tour, and completely surrender your life to the fast moving blacktop that is the road.

BANDS
Ashtree

When a city is heralded for its most popular bands’ musical styling it sends a shockwave through the surrounding band’s hearts, they’re left with the dread that they must fit in or face perishing... sometimes. The current glow-pop movement rife with neon bleeding tweens sporting headbands has led some to find happiness, but for Denver’s darlings, Ashtree, it has done something different. For the band of four, it has propelled a need inside of them to get out of Denver, and get out fast.
Led by the sound of singer Will Johnston’s booming piano keys and willowy voice, melded with Pat Tafoya’s swirling guitars, and backed by the metronomic Zack Low on bass and Joe Tafoya on drums, Ashtree refreshes a beloved genre in a welcome and needed way.

For those involved and in love with music in our subculture in 2004, whatever you may want to call it, Name Taken surely crossed your path more than once. Orange County, CA’s favorite sons burst onto the scene with a split CD with Bayside, and then a crushing, critically acclaimed album entitled “Hold On.” We couldn’t be happier to be releasing the vinyl version of this album, it really is a piece of history.
For those unfamiliar, this review explains things pretty well...
“Above all what we have here is a release that, in my opinion, stands on it's own by defying all labels that someone may try to affix to it. It will be one of the first albums that comes to my mind at the end of the year when I am thinking about the top albums of 2004, this much I know for sure. I never thought I could get rocked so hard by something so beautiful. You can tell the band put great thought into everything from the artwork, to the track listing, to the final verse - all in an effort to craft their story and theme into a musical masterpiece. The hype is dead. This is the real %#*@ing deal." - Jason Tate / absolutepunk.net

What hasn’t been said about Recover? Groundbreaking. Electrifying. Thrashing. Yes, thrashing. The Austin, TX natives have been through the ringer and have come out so much better for it. We’re proud to have released their much-coveted B-sides album, Challenger. Filled with songs from the “This May The Year I Disappear” era, “Challenger” is sure to satiate any die-hard fan’s collection needs.
Recover is an anomaly. Dan Keyes, Robert Man, Ross Tweedy, and Santiago Vela III have all known each other for more than half of their lives. The four of them are the original members, they have never changed their name, and most importantly they have never forgotten where they came from. Let's not call it a miracle, but fortuitous per-se, that this record was released. If not, Challenger quite possibly could have disappeared like itʼs namesake. In addition to the original twelve songs, Challenger features an explosive cover of Nine Inch Nailsʼ “March Of The Pigs,” as well as two new songs, “No Big Deal” and “Clouds Higher Than Any Bird.”

While predominantly known for their punk rock ‘day jobs,’ playing guitar in the band Say Anything, twin brothers Jeff and Jake Turner made quite a splash of their own when XO came into the world. With the full-bodied and diverse sound on their debut, the Some Day EP, the band set their starting bar pretty high. Following that with a genre bending remix album- replete with early band demos- XO has garnered itself quite a loyal following.

PROJECTS
Over the Radio
What if we told you that Pink Floyd wasn't the only band to sync a record to The Wizard of Oz? What if we told you that Radiohead did it too? What if we took the guesswork out of the equation and made a video for you? What if…?
